We are the Copenhagen Decolonization Collective, an interdisciplinary and intercultural initiative based in Copenhagen & critically engaged with theories and practices of decolonization. Our work focuses on creating a space for reflection, discussion, and learning about the colonial structures that shape our institutions, knowledge systems, and everyday lives. Through awareness-raising and resource-sharing, we seek to challenge dominant colonial narratives in the world around us.
This newsletter is one of the ways we’re practicing collective reflection and accountability. We’ll use it to share what we’ve been working on, what we’re learning, and where we’re headed next — as well as to invite participation and collaboration. If you find it meaningful, please feel free to pass it along to friends, family, or others who might want to engage with this work.
On-the-Ground
The last couple months of 2025 saw our Collective flourishing and connecting more than ever with the community! Alongside Scientist Rebellion, we co-hosted a book launch and panel event for the release of Fernando Racimo’s inspiring new book, Science in Resistance. On a cozy winter evening, we hosted a creative zine-making workshop exploring the colonial legacies and decolonial futures of everyday objects around us. And we were invited to multiple teach-ins, helping to inspire academics and professionals alike to engage with decolonization in their work.

In addition to all this, we’ve launched our blog, which we’ll be updating frequently, and which we’re so excited to share with you all!
Looking Forward
2026 is here at last, and with it comes some exciting new projects from our Collective! In the coming weeks, we’re planning a Global Health Country Exposure roleplay teach-in at the University of Copenhagen, aiming to host a screening of the film Toxic Colonialism: How Swedish Waste Poisoned Chile in early February, and dreaming up a Collective member hygge winter meet-up to get through the winter together. Dates and details to come soon!
Also, from January 15th to February 5th we will be running an introductory course on decolonization—details for signing up here!
P.S. If you love the idea of the reading course but can’t make it, please fill out our interest form here to help us plan better in the future!
P.P.S. And for all of you beyond Copenhagen, we’re working hard to make our reading courses available online—stay tuned! ;)
